Eight different cable parks and over 400 different riders took part in the 2010 CableWakeboard.com Points Chase. Numbers that have far exceeded the expectations of Blake Hess, the organizer of the nationwide series. For eight years, TSR has hosted regional week night series to help progress the riding in the area. This event has cultivated riders like Tom Fooshee, who worked his way up the divisions on his way to becoming arguably the worlds best cable wakeboarder. The goal of the points series was to help each park improve the level of riding and continue to progress the sport by asking each park to host their own five-week series. The cable parks embraced the idea and the series was born. Local events saw as many as 61 riders attend a week night wakeboard event. Riders and local media were more involved than ever because of the nationwide points chase involving parks across the country made each local event part of something bigger.

USA Water Ski is pleased to announce that it will hold the inaugural USA Water Ski GrassRoots National Championships on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Lake Grew in Polk City, Fla. Lake Grew, a world-record capability water ski venue, is adjacent to the American Water Ski Educational Foundations Water Ski Hall of Fame and USA Water Ski headquarters. Any water ski (slalom and tricks) athlete or barefoot (slalom and tricks) water ski athlete who has participated in a GrassRoots Series event in 2010 is eligible to compete in the event. A GrassRoots Fun Day in which participants will have the opportunity to ski with a professional water ski athlete will be held at the same site on Sunday, Sept. 19.

The Gulf Coast Wakeboarding Association and M2 Sports present the H-town Showdown Wakeboarding Tournament. Levels of riding include Beginner Boys, Beginner Women, Beginner Men, Intermediate Women, Intermediate Men, Advanced, Expert, Outlaw and Wakeskate. Events are lined up for participants and spectators, including music provided by Wetsounds and a GCWA raffle. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit Texas Adaptive Aquatics (www.taasports.org), a non-profit organization that allows people with physical and/or mental disabilities the opportunity to discover the thrill and excitement of water skiing, sailing, and kayaking.

Dallas is one of the top spots for grassroots wakeboarding in the country. Empire Wake is bringing stop 2 of the triangle here for that very reason. The location is a beautiful glassy protected cove on Lake Lewisville. The park is called Stewart Creek Park in the Colony. Red Bull will be out in full swing rocking the party and fill you with energy. The event will be pulled by a loaded up Tige 24ve or RZ2.
